Valley of Death

Valley of Death

Location: South of Nida

Nestled between Parnidis and Gliders’ dunes, lies a valley with a heavy past.  From 1870 to 1872 it housed a prison camp of French soldiers that had been captured by the German army.

Torturous labour, disease and poor living conditions meant that many soldiers lost their lives here and were buried in the camp cemetery nearby.
