Location: Pamario st 3, Nida
A copper creation that greets many visitors arriving onto one of the main streets of Nida illustrates perhaps the most romantic and celebrated legends of Lithuanian folklore. The sculpture portrays a love scene of dramatically opposite worlds - a fisherman Kastytis embracing mermaid Jūratė, who left her sea kingdom for the sake of unyielding love for a common man.
Built in 1984 by Eduardas Jonušas, it was commissioned by a former holiday hotel “Jūratė”.
