Pedestrian route “Around the Horn of Horses”

Pedestrian route “Around the Horn of Horses”

Start of the route: Pervalka
Lenght: 5 km

The gateway to the world of dunes!

The route that goes around the Horn of Horses welcomes a peek into the Curonian Spit’s mysterious world of the sand - you will cast your eyes over the vast views of the dead dunes of Nagliai nature reserve. These serene looking formations buried several villages in their relentless journey several decades ago. The settlement of Pervalka nearby was created by settlers from these buried villages. The name Pervalka (Perwelk) is older than the settlement itself: it was a location of the Teutonic knights used to transfer their arms and goods from the other shore of the Curonian Lagoon.
