Pedestrian route “Kuršių niūrija”

Start of the route: Preila
Length: 5 km

A live journey through the past of Neringa.

This route takes you through the historical paths of intellectual Martynas Liudvikas Rėza and his buried under the sand home village of Karvaičiai. You will climb the formidable travelling sand dune that in fact buried the village. Also pay a visit to the lagoon’s Horn of Goats, which is a favourite of local cormorants, two bird watching towers and the only lake of the Curonian Spit. When you reach the top of the 59 m sand dune, you are presented with spectacular view of the sea, the lagoon and hilly pine forests.
