Part 64. Nida–Pervalka

Length: 18 km.
Walking time: 4–6 hours.
Start: Nida, Nida port.
Finish: Pervalka center.
Route: Nida–Preila–Pervalka.
Road surface: pavement and sidewalks in settlements, pedestrian roads and shore promenades. Other locations have natural forest path surface, sometimes sand.
Difficulty level: easy

The Baltic Coastal Hiking Route starts in Nida’s centre next to the port. Begin with a walk by the Curonian lagoon, admiring its far-fetching views to Rusnė island near the eastern shore of the lagoon. Nida’s architecture is full of authenticity, with its historical single storey homesteads, thatched roofs and white and blue wooden shutters. From Nida to the Horn of Bulvikis, the route passes an abandoned airport runway and dives into the fragrant pine forest and occasional sandy meadows that feature very specific Curonian flora. There are several picnic areas and bird watching stations on the way. In Preila settlement, the route follows a shoreline promenade, then leads through forest pedestrian and cycling routes into Pervalka.

Part 65. Pervalka–Juodkrantė

Length: 18 km.
Walking time: 4–6 hours.
Start: Pervalka.
Finish: Juodkrantė quay.
Route: Pervalka–Juodkrantė
Road surface: sandy beach, small forest paths, asphalt pedestrian or bicycle path, in residential areas – asphalt, pavement.
Difficulty level: easy.

After Pervalka, the route moves over to the western side and reaches the Baltic sea. The next 13 km follow a picturesque sandy beach that leans onto a steep, high beach dune. It is manmade in an effort to protect the peninsula from the relentless travelling sand. Before reaching Juodkrantė, the route crosses the pine forest, through a fragment of the Hill of Witches and onto the wide lagoon promenade of Juodkrantė’s shore and towards the port.

Part 66. Juodkrantė–Klaipėda

Length: 23 km.
Walking time: 5–8 hours.
Start: Juodkrantė quay.
Finish: Klaipėda, the Exchange Bridge.
Route: Juodkrantė–Alksnynė–Smiltynė–Klaipėda.
Road surface: small forest and other paths, sandy beach, asphalt coastal promenades.
Difficulty level: moderate.

After Juodkrantė, the route follows forest paths that ride up and down the dune slopes until it reaches the Baltic sea again. The next 9 km enjoy the open sea views and white sand beaches backed by dreamy dunes. After you leave the beach once again near Alksnynė, the forest gives way to the views of Klaipėda port. The route reaches the ferry crossing where the splendid city centre of Klaipėda awaits.
